Which is Better Practical Firearm- AK-47 or AR-15?
Firearms, guns and weapons have been a huge part of our world and have made it both safer and more volatile at the same time. By keeping a close check on the sales of firearms many states of America have managed to keep things under control. Firearms are used for various purposes like training, shooting practices, self-defense, collection purposes, hunting and home-defense. The real gun fanatics love their guns and go to great lengths to defend them against other competitors. There are quite a few gun battles going on for decades now, with no sign of being resolved anytime soon. But for sure these gun debates, arguments and counter arguments by gun lovers and opinionated fellows have brought to life places like gun stores, shooting ranges and dealer shops.
The
very popular and the most divided gun wars are between revolver and
semi-automatic, rifle and shotgun, 9mm and .45ACP or 9mm and .40S&W to name
a few. But there is one other long war going on for almost 5 decades now
which is between the AK-47 and AR-15 firearms. The people on each gun’s side
are very fervent, ardent and personal about them leading to a lot of heated
conversations and arguments in the defense of each. This debate hasn’t been
fought in gun stores or training centers but on actual battlefields all around
the world! In this article, I would like to put forward all the pros and cons
of California
legal AR-15 so that you can decide which is better suited for your
requirements or for you to judge.
The Pros and
Cons of AK-47 and AR-15 Firearms in Comparison with Each Other AK-47
Ak-47 assault
rifle has been making its mark globally since the 1940s and has been the official
rifle of the Soviet Armed Forces. The AK-47 was designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov
in the Soviet Union. One of the bestselling properties of an AK-47 has always
been its extremely reliability and the fact that it’s super easy to use that
even a child can work with it. The worn-torn countries like Afghanistan have
adopted the AK-47 and you can see them in the hands of a child who is barely
able to hold it.
An Ak-47 rifle is
extremely reliable as it can withstand toughest environments and can work even
if it’s slathered with mud or sand, is kept at freezing temperatures or
submerged in water. The reason for its being so tough and dependable is the
material used for its making-steel and wood. This gun is durable, hard-hitting
and never-failing with minimal cleaning or maintenance.
California legal guns like AK-47 have a fan
following around the world but especially Asia and Europe. An AK-47 is far less
expensive than an AR-15 rifle. Its caliber of 7.62 into 39mm penetrates far
deeper into the target with greater stopping power than its biggest competitor.
The problem is that the range of the AK-47 is a few hundred yards shorter than
the AR-15. It also weighs around 2-3 pounds heavier which makes it difficult to
carry at long distances. Lastly with a bigger caliber the recoil of the AK-47
is also stronger with a slower cyclic rate.
AR-15
An AR-15/M16
assault rifle was designed by Eugene Stoner in the 1950s in the U.S. It
was brought into service in the late 1950s and was first used in the Vietnam
War. An Ar-15 assault rifle has been around for more than 6 decades now, which
is proof enough of its reliability, durability and accuracy. This gas operated
rifle has direct impingement and uses cartridges of .223 Remington or 5.56
NATO. Even though the AR-15 rifle isn’t that good at enduring tough conditions
like the AK-47 its still does a pretty good job. But the biggest selling
property of the AR-15 is not its reliability but its accuracy. The range of an
AR-15 rifle is 600 yards which in comparison to the AK-47 is 200 yards more.
Another great
thing about the AR-15 is that it weighs far less than the AK-47 which is a
pretty heavy gun to lift. You can go around with it while carrying the
ammunition and other gear and not feel overwhelmed or dog tired by the weight.
This rifle is also ergonomic which makes it very user friendly. The cyclic rate
of an AR-15 is far greater than the AK-47 and the recoil is much less as well.
But the stopping rate or the knock down rate of the AR-15 is less than the
AK-47 when compared at the field together. But overall an AR-15 is an
extremely accurate and reliable gun which can be a great weapon to have.
Conclusion
In the end, I
won’t put my choice out there and let you decide which rifle you find better
when compared. Are you an AK-47 fanatic or an AR-15 loyalist? Both these
guns have passed the test of time and have emerged victorious as we are still
speaking about them after almost 7 decades!
